Equity is concerned about the rise in non-standard terms “Warranties and Special Conditions appearing in casting briefs and contracts for television commercials. Here’s what to look out for.

-Additional unlimited usage by the agency or client for self-promotional or PR use.
-The requirement that actors make certain warranties outside the usual disclosures concerning recent association with competitor products, such as having to disclose criminal history, scandalous conduct or any social media usage.

Equity has contacted numerous producers lately to request that this practice cease. Agents have also been notified.

Please contact Equity if you are concerned about any additional terms or warranties being sought in TVC contracts members@meaa.org
