Quality News starts with Quality Jobs

ABC staff are taking 24-hour strike action from 11am Wednesday 25 March in a bid to secure sustainable jobs, fair pay and improved working conditions, and to protect the quality news and programming Australians rely on.

  • After months of negotiations, workers are fighting for:
  • A pay increase that keeps up with the cost of living
  • Pay-band progression that recognises improvements in skills and experience over time
  • Secure jobs, particularly for contract workers
  • Guardrails around the use of AI to continue to deliver quality, ethical journalism

These conditions don’t just affect staff. They affect the quality, independence and reliability of the ABC that Australians rely on every day.
