DESCRIPTION:

Mental illness will affect 1 in 4 of us in any one year. That’s a large portion of a journalist’s audience.

In these times of 24/7 news, newsrooms and journalists are under greater pressure than ever. Now more than ever, reporting and words really matter, particularly when it comes to stories about people with mental health challenges.

Responsible reporting of mental health issues raises awareness and can be a tremendous tool in dispelling myths and changing attitudes.

To bring you this forum, the SA Mental Health Commission has partnered with Mindframe, an Australian Government initiative that aims to encourage responsible, accurate and sensitive representation of mental illness and suicide in the Australian media.

Experienced South Australian journalists will share advice on how journalists can look after their own wellbeing, particularly while reporting on traumatic and challenging events.

Drinks and nibbles provided.

6.30 PM for a 7 PM start.
