Stuff, New Zealand’s largest media company, issued a public apology last year to Māori. An investigation of its 160‑year history found their monocultural reporting had been racist, contributing to social stigma, marginalisation and stereotypes against Māori.
Is this happening in Australia? Have Aboriginal people been subjected to discrimination and misrepresentation by the media? Can mainstream media really be fair, balanced and accurate about First Nations communities?
MC – Bridget Brennan – Yorta Yorta Dja Dja Wurrung woman and ABC journalist.
