Equity Scratch Night

26/08/2017
5:00pm - 9:00pm
Queensland Theatre

Equity invites you to you to attend the Equity “Scratch” night for new and emerging artists, creators, makers, dramaturges and writers.

The evening will be hosted by Sam Strong, Artistic Director, Queensland Theatre and facilitated by Jason Klarwein. This is an opportunity for you to perform a piece you have been working on or have a piece you have written performed by actors. You may want design ideas or just feedback on your piece. This is a chance to have your piece heard or performed and to practice something you have been working on.

All work and ideas are welcome.

If you don’t have a piece you want to happen on the night, then you can also come along and support each other by being an audience member.

Sam Strong is one of Australia’s leading theatre directors and arts leaders. He commenced as Artistic Director of the Queensland Theatre Company in November 2015. Prior to that, Sam was the Associate Artistic Director of the Melbourne Theatre Company, where he directed multiple sold out productions, reached a paid audience of 145,000, and directed the main stage theatrical debuts of visual artist Callum Morton and screen comedy legends Working Dog.

Jason Klarwein is an actor, director, producer and member of the Equity National Performers Committee. Jason has performed as an actor with many Australian theatre companies such as Queensland Theatre, La Boîte, Bell Shakespeare, Belvoir St, Sydney Theatre Company, Black Swan Theatre Company, Adelaide Festival Centre, Malthouse Theatre, Jute Theatre, Hothouse Theatre, QPAC and the Grin and Tonic Theatre Troupe. Jason has been a resident director at Queensland Theatre and is the Artistic Director of The Grin and Tonic Theatre Troupe. Jason has performed and directed internationally in the U.K. and the U.S.

The Equity Foundation sincerely thanks Queensland Theatre for their support of this event.
