The MEAA Alliance of Voice Artists (MAVA) committee has released a final update of the new industry rates card along with a memorandum that explains what’s new compared to the previous versions and how industry feedback has helped shape the final outcome.
The new rates card is a huge achievement – the product of 12 months’ hard work behind the scenes, grappling with changes to digital technology and the new ways voiceover work is showing up in all of our lives, with advertising-supported video on demand platforms, in-game and in-app advertising, and digital infrastructure in public spaces just some of the examples. The card also tackles AI for the first time, making it clear that the use of artists’ work for machine learning and the creation of digital doubles should only happen with the artist’s explicit and informed written consent.
A town hall for all MEAA Equity members to go over how the new card meets the challenges of the industry and talk about next steps will be held on Tuesday, June 3 at 5pm (AEST) and Friday, June 6 at 12pm (AEST) – click on the links or the buttons below to register to attend.
