MEAA correspondence over the killing of journalist and US citizen Shireen Abu Akleh
Correspondence regarding the killing of journalist and US citizen Shireen Abu Akleh who was fatally wounded while reporting in the West Bank for Al Jazeera Arabic.
MEAA extends its condolences to her family and work colleagues and has written to the Israeli Ambassador condemning the targeting of journalists and demanding that the full circumstances of this tragedy are properly investigated.
The correspondence has been sent to Israel’s Ambassador to Australia; the President of the Palestinian Journalists’ Association; the Head of the General Delegation of Palestine to Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific; the Australian Foreign Minister and the Australian Opposition spokesperson for foreign affairs; and the General Secretary of the International Federation of Journalists.
