Storyology, the Walkley Foundation’s journalism festival will be in Brisbane this July 27-28 and MEAA members will save big, with a 40% discount on Saturday passes. Score four great talks:

  • Saturday morning with the papers: with top editors (Lenore Taylor, Guardian Australia and Danielle Cronin, Brisbane Times), a crime journalist (Paula Doneman, Seven), a Pulitzer-winning American investigative journalist (Mark Schoofs, BuzzFeed News) and an iconic cartoonist (Sean Leahy).
  • Shooting the Storm: Sydney Morning Herald chief photographer Nick Moir does show and tell with some of his favourite dramatic weather shots, from fire to flood.
  • Power shifts: Identity, diversity, #MeToo: with ABC’s Cathie Schnitzerling and featuring 2017 Women’s Leadership in Media Award winner Catherine Fox, The Courier-Mail’s Rachel Hancock, and debut author Bri Lee.
  • Killer stories: True crime & podcasts with ABC’s Rachael Brown (Trace), The Australian’s Hedley Thomas (The Teacher’s Pet) and one of Queensland’s best-loved crime storytellers (in fact and fiction), Matthew Condon.
