Bullying and sexual harassment in the arts

09/08/2018
6:30pm - 9:00pm
Dunstan Playhouse, Festival Drive, Adelaide

Due to unforeseen circumstances the event has had to be postponed. We’d like to thank Arts South Australia, South Australian Film Corporation, Adelaide Festival Centre for all their support and Barbara Bartnik for all her work. Apologies for the late notice and any for any inconvenience caused.

This Equity Wellness Forum is MEAA’s first public Q&A in Adelaide addressing bullying and sexual harassment in the arts.

Actors, directors, producers and innovators will be invited to answer questions about how the arts industry is affected by sexual harassment and bullying allegations over the past months. The aim of the forum is to create awareness and address new policies which are being developed to help artists overcome these difficult issues.

There will be segments throughout the forum dedicated to public questions. The purpose of the open discussion is to promote meaningful change and discuss how new or existing industry guidelines concerning harassment might be implemented at the workplace level.

We want to ensure the public that funding bodies and individuals who are involved in the South Australian Arts sector are committed to guarantee a safer working environment for all.

The forum will be chaired by Barbara Bartnik, a member of the Equity Wellness Committee. Speakers are:

•  Tiffany Lyndall-Knight (Performer, Director)
•  Elizabeth Hay (SA Equity President)
•  Chris Drummond (Brink Productions, Director)
•  Geordie Brookman (State Theatre of SA, Artistic Director)
•  Kirsty Stark (Matchbox Pictures, Producer)
•  David McLean (State Opera of SA, Production Manager)
•  Alison Robb (Arts Industry Psychologist)

Presented by MEAA and the Equity Wellness Committee.
