Regional Organiser – WA, SA, NT

Description

We are looking for an organiser who understands the need to develop organising and activist structures to win.   MEAA needs a proactive and energetic Regional Organiser who will coordinate organisers and lead members across three states/territories and who will be able to demonstrate and develop others so that campaigns and engagement with members are relevant and builds power and influence of the union across the membership of the whole of the union.

This role works as a part of a team committed to developing innovative ways to secure good jobs and equality at work by building leaders and acting together to make change.

This role would suit an experienced organiser who is personally highly organised, has developed strong leadership capacity and creates strong support for developing a national union across all sections of the organisation. Previous demonstrated leadership and developing work aligned to strategic goals is essential.  It will suit existing union organisers or community organisers with relevant experience.

 

Key Duties Include:

  • Coordinating organisers work across the region and ensuring that the work of organisers is of a quality and standard that aligns to union goals of a strong and effective representative of workers in the creative industries.
  • Demonstrating and engaging in building leadership structures in priority locations to achieve campaign objectives.
  • Development and skills transfer to delegates and leaders.
  • Organising to bargain to achieve enterprise agreements that meet the membership needs and the unions strategy.
  • Working with members and specialist union staff to plan and execute activities to address collective issues in line with campaign objectives.
  • Actively developing others regarding legal and policy frameworks to address workplace issues and to organise. Ability to articulate employment laws including WH&S and anti- discrimination frameworks to secure decent work.
  • Working with specialist staff to devise innovative legal and policy responses to secure campaign wins.

Remuneration will depend on skills and experience.

 

Details:

The position is available on a full-time permanent basis with a package dependent on skills and experience. Benefits include 12% employer contribution to superannuation, 5 weeks annual leave each year, 1 RDO every 4 weeks, plus an additional 3 days leave between Christmas and New Year. Salary sacrificing is available.
