Women in Media Victoria and MEAA invite you to a special MEAA Media Section drinks on Wednesday September 12 to mark Equal Pay Day.

Congratulations! On Equal Pay Day – more than two months after June 30 – the average Australian woman has finally earned the same as her male colleagues did in the last financial year!!

  • The average national gender pay gap in Australia is 15.3%. In 2016 that meant on average $251.20 less per woman per week.
  • MEAA’s Mates Over Merit report found it was closer to 22% in the media industry.

All are invited to mark this day with informal drinks.

We’ll hear from Kristine Ziwica, newly appointed executive director of NOW Australia, the organisation that rose from the #MeToo movement. Also attending will be Radio-Television Timor Leste parliamentary reporter and TV presenter Priscilia Fonseca, a recipient of this year’s Balibo Five-
Roger East Fellowship, an MEAA and Union Aid Abroad – APHEDA initiative.
