For the second year, the National Union of Workers and Overland Literary Journal are running a prize worth $20,000.

The Fair Australia prize is a competition that encourages artists to write and draw about the issues NUW members and supporters care about: secure work, tackling inequality and building a fairer Australia.

Entries are now open in the following categories with the prize in each worth $4000:

  • Non-Fiction
  • Fiction
  • Poetry
  • Graphic/Cartoon

The competition closing date has been extended until the 31st August.

This year’s theme is ‘Our Common Future’ and there are four areas of ‘fairness’ the competition asks people to think about in relation to this theme:

  • Fair society
  • Fair planet
  • Fair jobs
  • Fair food
